IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George "Jack"
J. Schleter Jr.
February 13, 1944 – December 19, 2024
George "Jack" Schleter, 80, of Tiffin, lost his brief battle with cancer on December 19, 2024. He was born on February 13, 1944, in Tiffin, OH, to George J. and Viola Belle (Greenwood) Schleter, who both preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Ethel "Et" (Schaade) on September 19, 1970, who he has been reunited with in heaven.
He leaves behind his loving children: Tina Stover of Gibsonia, PA; Dave (Kristin) Schleter of Centerville, OH; Angie Schleter of Tiffin, OH; and eleven grandchildren: Shelby, Brandon, Kara, Courtney, Allie, Zack, Ryan, Benjamin, Evan, Tori "Ollie", and Connor, who will all miss his strength, guidance, and quirky sense of humor. He is also survived by siblings, Bernita Herr, Emmalou Lynch, John (Mary) Schleter, and Jim (Sandy) Schleter.
Jack was a graduate of Republic High School and an Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. He dedicated his time as the Commander of the local American Legion after working nearly forty years as a machine operator and maintenance man at Webster Industries. He loved growing his own vegetables in a home garden, reading sci-fi books, and going to the casino. He also was a decades-long permanent camper at Clinton Lake Campground, where he enjoyed spending his summer weekends hanging out with family and friends around the campfire. It was in these moments where he was most likely to have an adult beverage and spin a tale that was filled with a mixture of facts and…how do we say this without getting censored…small fabrications!
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 10AM-Noon. The family encourages you to bring written stories about Jack to share. A burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Ohio's Hospice at ohioshospice.org or the American Legion Post 169.
Condolences may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.hgmackfuneralhome.com.
