Obituary

Gerald T. "Jerry" Boehler, 81, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 19, 2012 at 3:30 P.M., at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center

He was born on December 14, 1931, in Tiffin to Richard and Ida (Bormuth) Boehler. He married his wife, Jane Thiel on October 22, 1955 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

Other survivors include 2 daughters, Colleen (Glen) Steyer of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Nancy (Thomas) Miller of Forest; 3 sons, Jerry (Marty) Boehler of Perrysburg and Robert (Mary Ann) Boehler and Dennis (Sharon) Boehler, both of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Boehler of Tiffin; one sister, Virginia Miletti of Tiffin; 2 sisters-in law, Alice Boehler of Hingham, MA and Rose (Terry) Reister of Port Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Helen Bender and Mary Jo Mumper; 3 brothers, Richard, Donald, and James.

Jerry graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School and then spent 4 years in the United States Navy as a petty officer during the Korean War; where he sailed on both the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. After retiring from general Electric as a maintenance electrician at the age of 53, much of his time was spent taking family and friends boating and fishing on Lake Erie and Lake Michigan.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Roemmele officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 3:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools, the Mercy Cancer Center or Community Hospice Care.
