Gerald D. "Jerry" Bowers, 75, of Tiffin passed away Wednesday morning, December 23, 2009 at his home.
On February 15, 1934 in Tiffin, he was born to Gerald L. and Glenna (Alspaugh) Bowers. On August 5, 1971, he married Ida Bentley.
Survivors include his wife, Ida, 6 sons, Tim (Kris) Bowers of Findlay; David (Ann) Bowers of Bentonville, AR; Jeff (Cassie) Hall of Findlay; Steve (Louise) Hall of Findlay; Todd (Shelly) Bowers of Tiffin; Rodney (Nicole) Bowers of Columbus; a brother, Chuck (Janet) Bowers of Alvada; sisters, Leora Scherger and Debbie (Don) Weller both of Tiffin; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rose Mary Harrison.
Jerry retired from Basic Refractories after 35 years. He enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, boating on Lake Erie, playing cards, camping and sitting around the campfire. Jerry and Ida would spend their winters in Florida.
A funeral service will be Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Washington Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Nathan Howe and Pastor William Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Garden.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, 419-447-2424.
