Gerald "Jerry" C. Coleman, 81, of Tiffin, passed away Friday morning, June 23, 2023, at Heritage Village of Clyde.
He was born to Gerald and Marguerite (Steyer) Coleman on February 6, 1942, in Fostoria, Ohio. He married Carol Kastner on September 2, 1967, in Tiffin.
Jerry is survived by his wife; Carol, son; Jason (Julie) Coleman, of Tiffin, daughters; Laurie Replogle, of Sandusky, Beth Amos, of Tiffin, grandchildren; Kenzie, Rudy, Dominic, Charles Jr, and great grandchild, Bennett, brothers; Lynn Coleman, of Fostoria, Kevin (Deb) Coleman, of Fostoria, Stephen (Sandy) Coleman, of Fostoria, Jeffrey Coleman, of Fostoria, Gerard Coleman, of Fostoria, Ritchie (Edna) Coleman, of Fostoria, sister; Colleen (Fred) Reinhart, of Tiffin, sister-in-law; Doris Coleman, of Tiffin, brother-in-law; John Emerine of Alvada, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Leroy Coleman, sisters; Karen Emerine, Cheryl Kimmet, and Dalene Coleman.
Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a eucharistic minister for 47 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School, the last class before merging into Lakota School. Jerry was raised with a very strong work ethic. He passed his convictions onto his children stating, "any job worth doing, was worth doing well." The farmer in the family, he could be found working in the fields with his grandpa from age 11. Earlier in life, Jerry worked for Burhart and Thomas Construction, and The Union Carbide, ultimately retiring from Webster Manufacturing in 2007, after over 39 years. He was a member of the Tiffin Knights of Columbus, serving as a third degree knight, he also served as a fourth degree knight of The Arch Bishop Schrems 608. He was very athletic and enjoyed square dancing, golfing, volleyball, bowling, and played on a softball team. He was the owner/operator of Jerry's Dog Grooming for 50 years.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Szybka officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.
