Gerald "Jerry" R. Sanders, 83 of Tiffin passed away at approximately 5:20 on Friday March 18, 2022, at Mercy Hospital, Tiffin Ohio from complications of aspiration pneumonia caused by post-polio syndrome.

Jerry was born October 6, 1938, in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Royce and Madeline Sanders. He married the love of his life, June E. Travis on September 16, 1961, and to the envy of their friends and family shared 60 beautiful years together. June currently resides in Tiffin, Ohio.

Along with June, Jerry is survived by two children, Mark A. Sanders (Jane) of Lowell, Michigan, and Alicia D. Tigges Sanders (Gary Blake) of Sandusky, Ohio. Three Grandchildren; Brendan, Kyla, and Jadan. And a brother, Gene Sanders (Michele), two nieces; Lisa and Jamie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry proudly served on the Tiffin Police Department in the youth services division. He was a 1956 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and was a member of the Tiffin St. Joseph Catholic Church. After retirement he enjoyed going to Florida for many years. He also enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, and all of his good friends (you know who you are). He was an avid Steelers fan.

His memorial services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 24, 2021, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory 236 S. Washington St., with Rev Joseph Szybka officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Humane Society.
