Glen W. Tippin, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday evening, June 10, 2015, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born on July 29, 1926, in Seneca County, to the late Richard W. and Bessie (Funkhouser) Tippin. On October 23, 1948, he married Bernita Nighswander.
Survivors include his wife, Bernita of Tiffin; sister, Bernice Bock of Tiffin; 3 nephews; 2 nieces; and many great nieces and nephews.
Glen started farming in Old Fort at the age of ten and was a very hard worker. He graduated in 1944 from Old Fort High School and served in the United States Army during World War II from October 30, 1944 to August 5, 1946. After the war, he worked at Basic Refractories for 43 years, retiring in 1991 and was a member of their Quarter Century Club.
His funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Ken Gillikin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
