Obituary

Harold E. Gruss, 94, of Tiffin, passed away Monday evening, August 13, 2012, in the Emergency room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

He was born on May 10, 1918, in New Riegel, Ohio, to Oscar and Nettie (Weinaday) Gruss. On November 28, 1946, he married Ruth Goshe.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; sons, Dennis (Beth) Gruss and Robert Gruss, both of Tiffin, Ohio; four grandchildren, Matthew, Johnathon Angela and Brandon; and one great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Alvin and Carl Gruss.

Harold served in the United States Army during WWII from February 15, 1944 to May 4, 1946. He worked for Leo Schoen Construction for years and Goetz Construction. He also worked on maintenance at St. Francis Home for many years, later retiring. Harold was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was very faithful to the church. He enjoyed gardening, working and building and fixing things.

His Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council. The Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to church.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert High School or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
