Obituary

Harold Peiffer, 87, of Tiffin and formerly of Lakewood, passed away on Friday morning, August 19, 2016 at St. Francis Home.

He was born in New Riegel, to Frank P. and Anna Clara (Lucius) Peiffer.

Survivors include one brother, Carl (Dorothy) Peiffer of Findlay; sister, Norma (George) Cramer of Tiffin; sister-in-law, Aggie Peiffer of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Eugene, Francis, Wilfred, Elmer, Leo, Herman, Raymond, and his twin brother, Gerald; and sister, Anna Mae Rumschlag.

Harold graduated from New Riegel High School in 1947 and was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel. Harold was class president of his junior and senior class and he lettered in baseball and basketball. He was also inducted into the Seneca County Honor Society.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War. Harold and his twin brother Gerald were together during their training and then served in Germany in the 330th Field Artillery BN until they received Honorable Discharge on October 28, 1952. He traveled to many states to attend the 330th Field Artillery BN reunion. Harold attended Tiffin University for two years after being discharged from the United States Army.

He retired from American Greetings in Cleveland on December 31, 1990 after working many years as an accountant. He was also the treasurer of the St. Rose Credit Union for many years.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at All Saints Parish New Riegel with his nephew, Rev. Jim Peiffer officiating and Rev. Timothy Kummerer as con-celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the New Riegel American Legion.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the Mass at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, Elizabeth Schaefer Apartments or to a charity of the donor's choice.
