Obituary

Harris J. Weller, 90, of rural Tiffin, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.

He was born February 27, 1920, in Tiffin, to L. Oscar and Helen (Keesy) Weller. He married Evelyn I. Walter on February 13, 1941.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Evelyn; two daughters, Karen (Ron) Roby and Kristi (Richard) Glanz, both of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Jason (Stacie) Roby of Carey, Christopher (Lisa) Glanz of Cincinnati, Kara (Dale) Sentle of Pemberville, Jenise (Klint) Tompkins of North Field and Lorne (Karen) Roby of Perrysburg; three great-grandchildren, Sean Roby, Sayla Tompkins and Danielle Roby.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a great-grandchild.

Harris was a 1937 graduate of Columbian High School. He was a member of Bascom Union United Church of Christ where he was a deacon, elder and custodian for many years and president of Church Council. Harris farmed his entire life and liked 'playing in the dirt'. He was a board member of Bascom Elevator, Bascom Mutual Telephone and a member of Junior Fair Foundation. He loved his wife, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and was a dedicated caretaker for his wife in recent years. He cherished many years of Sunday dinners and picnics. Harris is listed in the Hopewell Loudon Hall of Fame for service to the school.

His Funeral Service will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Bascom Union United Church of Christ, 575 N. Ash St., Bascom, with Rev. Ronald Hajarian officiating. Burial will follow in Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom.

Friends may visit with the family 4-8 PM, Friday, October 8, 2010 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home and Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424.

Memorial contributions can be made to Seneca County Junior Fair Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
