Helen K. Ahrens, 74 of Toledo and formerly of Tiffin, died Saturday morning, October 18, 2008 at Parkcliffe in Toledo.

On May 9, 1934 in Lyme Twp. She was born to Sylvester and Laura (Heyman) Pence. She married Lynn A. Ahrens in 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Tiffin.

Survivors include a son, David Ahrens of Tiffin; daughter, Laura (Derek) Hansen of Toledo; 3 grandchildren, Christopher (Theresa) Fleck of St. Louis, MO; Joshua (Shelly) Fleck of Tiffin; Megan Fleck of Yellow Springs, OH; 5 great grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Casey, Emmaleigh, Robert, and Elise Fleck all of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lynn on February 23, 1963, infant son, Roy Brenton Ahrens in 1958, and brother, Charles Pence.

Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church and had lived in Tiffin all her life except the last year moving to Toledo to be with her daughter. She enjoyed gardening, Western and monster movies and raising her family.

A funeral service will be Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
