Obituary

Helen M. Bloom, 87, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday morning, July 29, 2016 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

She was born on October 18, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Harold T. and Lavina C. (Clouse) Magers. On June 5, 1948, she married John Bloom and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Darlene) Bloom and Edward (Tara) Bloom, both of Tiffin; six daughters, Jean (Ron) Berry of Tiffin, Sharon (Ed) McCormack and Loretta Bloom, both of Aiken, S.C., Kathleen (Glenn) Platt, Geralyn Hammer and Wanda Wenner, all of Tiffin; brother, Larry (Karen) Magers of Athens, GA; sister, Therese Shofstahl of Tiffin; 22 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Bloom; daughter, Carolyn Houck; brothers, Donald, Urban and Wilbur; sister, Alma Bean; and sons-in-law, Gene Wenner, Ken Hammer and Ed Houck.

Helen graduated in 1946 from Tiffin Calvert High School, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and their Altar Rosary Society. She was an office helper in the area for various non-profit agencies for several years; owned and operated "The Doll Hospital" repairing dolls and making doll clothes, then made and sold her many handmade items at various craft shows throughout the years. Helen was a member of the Ohio Polka Boosters, National Horticultural Society, Sandusky River Valley Doll Club, Mother of Twins Club, Tiffin Eagles Auxiliary, was a 4-H advisor and hospice volunteer. She used her crocheting skills for making hats and blankets for newborn infants, hats for area cancer patients, and participated in making and sending gift packages to American soldiers overseas. Additionally, she enjoyed genealogy, crafts, music, sewing, dancing, working in her flower garden and meeting new people.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters and Rev. Frank Murd con-celebrating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
