Helen L. Dicken, 83, of Tiffin, passed away Monday evening, July 26, 2010, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

On May 19, 1927, she was born in Seneca County to William L. and Florence (Turney) Cochran.

On June 18, 1977, she married John P. 'Phil' Dicken.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Phil, three daughters, Sharon (Steve) Umphress of Mt. Blanchard; Sue (Rick) Jacox of Lexington; Sandi (Danny) Brown of Ft. Seneca; a step-son, James P. (Penny) Dicken of Tiffin; two step-daughters, Sandra (Jack) Reuter; and Barbara L. (Louie Aiello) Martz, both of Tiffin; two sisters, Hazel (Robert) Steinmetz and Lucille Butzier, both of Tiffin; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her parents are 5 brothers, Harold, Robert, Earl, John and Turney Cochran, a sister, Kathryn Rogers and a step-granddaughter, Evelyn Reuter.

Helen was a 1945 graduate of Melmore High School. She was a very active member of Blanchard River Church of Christ in Dunkirk, and the Ladies Aid Society. She played piano and was a secretary at Wagner Floral for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Helen was very committed to her family and daughters, and enjoyed spoiling them, reading and flower gardening.

Burial will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 30, 2010, at St. Jacob Cemetery, Republic.

Her Memorial service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, July 30, 2010, at Blanchard River Church of Christ, 15745 State Rte. 81, Dunkirk, with her son-in-law, Pastor Steve Umphress, officiating.

Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, 44883, 419-447-2424.
