Helen Rose Hohman, 90, of New Riegel, passed away on Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2016 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
She was born on August 6, 1925, in Seneca County to Herman A. and Gertrude H. (Reinhart) Kimmet. On October 1, 1949 in St. Andrew Catholic Church in Liberty Twp., she married Herbert R. Hohman and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2003.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Becky) Hohman of Tiffin; three daughters, Karen (Mike) Dotson of Fostoria, Shirley (Steve) Seifert of Tiffin and Cindy (John) Tomasek of Auburn Township, Ohio; two brothers, Raymond Kimmet and Richard Kimmet; seven grandchildren, Angela Dotson, Joshua Dotson, Sara (Bradley) Lampela, Lisa Cooley, Brian Seifert, Christine Seifert and Justin Hohman; seven great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet Hohman; brothers, Robert, Eugene and Carl; infant sister, Mary Kimmet; and grandson, Jacob Hohman.
Helen was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel, was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, volunteered in the Sharing Kitchen, taught C.C.D. classes for years and was a member of their quilters group. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, charter member of New Riegel American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VIM member, New Riegel Moose #253, a life member of the Carey V.F.W Post #3759 and a member of the Ladies of Tiffin 8 & 40 La Boutique. Helen was a campfire leader, volunteered for the Red Cross blood mobile and enjoyed catering dinners and receptions.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. The Women of the Moose #253 will begin a Memorial Service at 6:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, New Riegel, New Riegel American Legion Post 354 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
