Helen L. Kurtzman, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013 at Elmwood Assisted Living at the Shawhan.

She was born on March 31, 1923 in Tiffin, Ohio to George and Elenora (Serr) Herbert. She married Gerald J. Kurtzman and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1984.

Survivors include her son, Stephen J. Kurtzman of San Diego, CA and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Louis, John and Ed Herbert; and sister, Kathryn H. Hemlinger.

Helen graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1941 and from Toledo School of Nursing in 1944. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and worked for Dr. Fundenberg for 10 years and later retired from Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky. Helen loved animals; especially dogs and cats and enjoyed rose gardening, sewing, writing poetry, drawing and illustrating in pencil.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
