Helen Wagner, 89 of Silver Spring, MD and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday morning, January 27, 2010 at Aspenwood Senior Living.
On November 18, 1920 in Brier Hill, Pennsylvania, she was born to John and Helen (Babin) Malay. She married Dale Wagner on June 6, 1951 at St. John's Greek Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Norman) Salem of Rockville, MD; a daughter, Karen Ernes of Dublin, Ohio; a son, William (Shelly) Wagner of Greencastle, IN, 1 grandchild, and a sister, Margaret Fix of Medina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale in 1988, sisters, Mary Sedlock and Anne Maruszak and brothers John, Andrew and George Malay.
Helen was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Rockville and former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. She graduated from John Adams High School on June 16, 1938. Helen moved to Maryland in 2003 and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a seamstress.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
A private visitation was held for the family.
Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St, Tiffin, (419-447-2424) is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic parish of the donor's choice for Masses in Helen's name.
