Herbert J. 'Whitey' Heilman, 77, of Tiffin, died Thursday evening, January 3, 2008, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center. On September 30, 1930, he was born in Tiffin to John and Elizabeth (Stenns) Heilman. On October 13, 1951, he married Frances Welter.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances of Tiffin, two sons, Jim 'Slash' (Candy) Heilman of Green Springs, Ron Heilman of Tiffin, a daughter, Linda (Ed) Kimmet of Tiffin, five grandchildren, Fawne Heilman of Green Springs, Rena' Van Horn of Wharton, Regina Shiley of Fostoria, Jim Kimmet of Findlay Steve Kimmet of Columbus, four great-grandchildren, Carson, Kendall, Ashlee & Kelsey
Preceding him in death along with his parents are two brothers, William and Alfred Heilman.
Herbert was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2858 and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 402. Whitey retired from Webster Industries in 1993 after 43 years as a fabricator. He was very handy wood craftsman and enjoyed playing cards and traveling the United States.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday January 7, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Ferris officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 or 6-8 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. A Christian wake service will be 7:45 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to Community Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
