Obituary

Herman W. Sendelbach, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Monday morning, March 5, 2012 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center

On June 6, 1920 in Bascom, he was born to Louis and Lena (Raitz). He married Martha M. Schalk on November 3, 1945 in St. Joseph Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2011.

Survivors include; 4 sons, Wayne (Cindy) Sendelbach, Mark (Elaine) Sendelbach, Steve Sendelbach, and George (Heather) Sendelbach all of Tiffin; 3 daughters, Jane (Ollie) Zahorodnij of Avon Lake, OH; Carol (Lyle) Linn of Bloomville; Betty (Gary) Shaver of Tiffin; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Irvin (Mary) Sendelbach of Plymouth, OH; Jerome (Mary) Sendelbach of Tiffin, OH; sister, Rose Larke of AZ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Joseph Sendelbach.

Herman was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus, and American Legion Post #169. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, bowling, Sprint Car races, and was a Detroit Tiger's fan. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 and received a Purple Heart. Herman was the owner of Tiffin Excavating Co. for years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 5-8 pm at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. A Wake service will begin at 4:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Autumnwood Care Center or to a local Veteran's organization.
