Howard Wayne Meisner, of Randall Residence Tiffin, OH passed away October 2, 2022. He was 96 years old. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Meisner and three of his four children: Janet (Dick) Ladrach of Sugarcreek, Jeff Meisner and Jeani (Mark) Smith, both of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Jay Meisner. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Claire (Janet) Kandle, Emily Shultz, Aaron (Jean) Brady, Jill Goddard and Lauren (Jeff) Stacy.
Howard was born on May 15, 1926, to Florence and Elmer (Lawrence) Meisner of Tiffin, OH. The youngest of three children (Correinne Meisner Hade and Paul Meisner, deceased siblings), he went to a one room school, Dutch Hundred and worked on the family farm while growing up.
He left school to enlist in the United States Navy in 1945 and spent his service on an oil tanker, the USS Chemung, where he worked in the Px and barber shop. After service he returned home and on May 21, 1947, he married Ruth Magers from Tiffin, OH.
He worked at various jobs including farming for the State Hospital, RD Buick and Pontiac, and the Basic. After retirement he really began learning wood working, starting with clever cutouts for lawn decorations, clocks and musical piggy banks. He worked his way up to beautiful furniture, making revolving bookcases for all the children and grandchildren. He had a soft spot for his grandchildren and they for him.
Throughout his life he enjoyed square dancing, horses, and was always up for a game of euchre. He and Ruth went on many bus trips with family and friends and even enjoyed taking in some pro wrestling matches in their early years.
He was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge #846, Tiffin Eagles #402, Green Springs VWF Post 6067 and the New Riegel American Legion Post #354.
