Irene L. Martorana, 82, of Tiffin passed away Saturday morning, September 27, 2014 with her family beside her.
On September 12, 1932 in Tiffin, she was born to Glen and Louise (Huckey) Hess. She married Rosario "Russ" Martorana on May 24, 1952.
Survivors include her husband Russ of 62 years; a daughter, Sue (Jeff) Berryman of Fremont; two sons, Paul (Bev) Martorana and Joe (Deb) Martorana both of Tiffin; sister, Audrey Horn of Tiffin; six grandchildren, Paul, Carissa, Eric, Michael, Nick, Mandy; and six great grandchildren, Sophia, Cecelia, Rosaria, Lily, Zoey, and Mason.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Edna Fretz and Eileen Stanton; and four brothers, Bob, Dewane, Art, and John Hess.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she attended Mass regularly, and a 1951 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. She worked for Ohio Bell as an Operator for 10 years and later for Tiffin City Schools in the cafeteria for many years. Irene enjoyed trips to the casinos, BINGO, crafts, The Ohio State University, Cleveland Browns, and Calvert football and traveling the United States with her husband in their motor home. She loved her family and following her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sports. She will be remembered as a great cook, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be later in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 10-11:45 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Francis Home, or to Heartland Hospice.
