Iris T. Arter, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 13, 2016 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born on May 2, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Otto J. and Bertha C. (Frederick) Schafer. On April 15, 1950, she married Clarence Jr. Arter and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2001.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey L. (Angela) Arter of Italy; three daughters, Julie (Andrew) Reinhart of Tiffin, Rebecca (Frank) Chown of Rose Haven, MD and Roberta (Robert) Kissell of Bealeton, VA; two sisters, Betty (Robert) Mohler of Moab, UT and Drusella "Sally" (Owen) Shutt of Tiffin; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul R. Schafer and William C. Schafer, Sr.; and three sisters, Helen Miller, Kathryn Erkenbrecker and Margaret L. King.

Iris graduated in 1947 from Tiffin Calvert High School, worked at S.S. Kresge's downtown and at Westgate and worked at K-Mart for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed reading, sewing and playing Bingo.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
