Jack L. Kemp, 87, of Tiffin and Oak Harbor, passed away Monday morning, January 12, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

He was born on March 2, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, to Cletus C. and Lillian M. (Lehman) Kemp. On May 20, 1967, in Oak Harbor, he married Bernetta Benner and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include his two daughters, Jean (Christopher) Gill of Tiffin and Amy (Thomas) Spangler of Galloway; step-son, William (Rosemary) Jancsin of Temperance, MI; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn Trick.

At age 17, Jack joined the United States Navy, then went back and graduated from Oak Harbor High School and from Tiffin University in 1949 with a degree in accounting. He lived in Oak Harbor moving to Tiffin in 1968 and worked at National Machinery for 22 years. Jack was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ as well as the Friendship Circle at the Church, Eric Army Depot at Camp Perry for 17 years, Knights of Pythias No. 516, Oak Harbor, and was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 114, Oak Harbor. His grandparents owned the Oak Harbor Hotel for many years.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Twp. Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the funeral home and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday.
