James "Jim" E. Omlor, 71, of Bascom, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born on November 14, 1940, in Tiffin, Ohio, to William A. and Evelyn (Schroth) Omlor. On August 6, 1966, he married Nadine Sperow.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine; son, Tony Omlor of Ann Arbor, Michigan; daughters, Kristin Omlor of Columbus, Ohio and Stephanie Omlor of Charlotte, North Carolina; two brothers, John "Jack" (Mary) Omlor, of Tiffin, Ohio and David (Susan) Omlor of Sandusky, Ohio; six sisters, Mary (Robert) Williams of Fostoria, Ohio; Sylvia (James) Wade of Bettsville, Ohio; Barbara Ronski of Fremont, Ohio; Cora (Steve) Hepp, Janet (Bob) Barger and Ruth Omlor-Gallagher, all of Tiffin, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Omlor; sister, Pauline Scarr and infant sister, Carol Omlor.
Jim graduated in 1959 from Tiffin Calvert High School and was in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired after 25 years from American Standard as a maintenance foreman and drove truck for ICP. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at the church and helping decorate the church at Christmas. Jim enjoyed dancing, golfing with friends, casino trips and tailgating at OSU football games. He also enjoyed painting and sketching. He ran several marathons and ran many 5K and 10 K races. His favorite dog was Xu Xu. He was loved at Autumnwood Care Center by all the staff and residents. Jim loved going to family reunions and loved his family.
A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 4-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 3:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert athletics or Autumnwood Care Center.
