Obituary

James W. 'Jim' Scheiber, 90, of Tiffin, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born August 2, 1919, in Tiffin, to Clarence F. and Mary T. (Wall) Scheiber. June 1, 1946, he married Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Patterson in St. Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty, two sons, Stephen L. Scheiber of Tiffin, Timothy J. (Suzanne) Scheiber of Ormond Beach, FL, a daughter, Patricia A. (James) Homan of Tiffin, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Scheiber of Naugatuck, CT, and three grandchildren, Amanda L. Homan, Julie E. Homan and Kevin J. Scheiber.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a son, William Scheiber in 1993, and a brother, Robert Scheiber.

Jim graduated in 1937 from Calvert High School, St. Joseph College, Indiana in 1941 and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He proudly served in the US Coast Guard on an overseas tanker in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. He purchased Tiffin Pattern Works from his father and continued working until he retired in 2000. He played basketball and softball for Routh Packers, and played tennis until very recently. He was a member of American Legion Post 169 where he played softball. He enjoyed woodworking, oil painting, golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 20, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with Military Graveside services conducted by the United Veteran's Council.

Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424, A Christian wake service will be 1:45 PM.

Memorial contributions can be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, Community Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
