Obituary

James C. Skidmore, Jr., 81, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday morning, December 26, 2016.

He was born on March 27, 1935, in Fullerton, Kentucky to James, Sr. and Marie (Pennington) Skidmore. On October 5, 1957, he married Norma Jean Summers.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of Tiffin; son, James C. (Jenna) Skidmore, III of Tiffin; two daughters, Kathy (John) Kuhn of Tiffin and Jennifer (Robert) Honaker of Pickerington; brother, William W. (Kathy) Skidmore of IN; three sisters, Betty (Carl) Carter of Beauty Ridge, KY, Linda L. Lawson of Portsmouth and Susan J. James of South Shore, KY; five grandchildren; Brett (Katie) Kuhn, Bryce Kuhn, Braden Kuhn, James C. Skidmore IV and Katie Honaker; and one great grandchild, Soucie Kuhn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lindsay Ray Skidmore, Michael Lee Skidmore, Andrew J. Skidmore and infant brother, Glen Skidmore; three sisters, Oleta Brown, Nannie Bailey and his infant twin sister, Joan Mae Skidmore; and his two dogs, Missay and Abbie.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 and was the Manager at Sherwin Williams, retiring in March of 1997 after 33 ½ years. He was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where he was an elder, trustee, congressional president and volunteer. He also was a member of T-Squares and enjoyed refinishing antiques and going to the bark park. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and was devoted to his wife after her illness.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ with Rev. Douglas P. DeVos officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Community Hospice Care, The Alzheimer's Association or to the Tiffin Bark Park.
