James "Jim" "Slash" A. Heilman, 63, of Green Springs, passed away Friday morning, June 10, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita Medical Center in Lima.

On November 30, 1958, in Tiffin, he was born to Herbert "Whitey" J. and Frances E. (Welter) Heilman.  He married Candice "Candy" Groves on April 25, 1981.

Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Candy; a daughter, Fawne (Josh) Heilman-Conrad of Tiffin; brother, Ron Heilman and sister, Linda (Ed) Kimmet , both of Tiffin; his dog, Scout and three cats, Albert, Princess and Lucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a cat, Ray.

Jim attended Tiffin Columbian High School and later, Terra Community College for welding.  He worked as a forklift driver at Fremont Plastics for over 25 years and recently as a welder at Tower Automotive in Bellevue for over 5 years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning, watching westerns, shooting off fireworks, and was an expert Cheesecake baker.  Jim had a great sense of humor and loved time with his family, sitting around the fire and traveling to New York and Chicago.

A Memorial service will be Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 7:00 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St. with Pastor Jesse Caro officiating.

Friends may share stories and visit with the family on Thursday from 5:00 until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Commission on Aging.
