James M. Stoneburner, 83, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Circleville, OH and Hockessin, DE passed away on Saturday evening, December 20, 2025, at The Willows at Tiffin.
Jim is survived by his wife, Phyllis Stoneburner, of Ft. Myers, FL; daughters Lisa (Todd) Young, of Tiffin, OH, Christina Stoneburner, of Morris Plains, NJ; grandchildren, Adam (Lauren Fang) Young, Lindsay (Simon Mason) Young, and Anne Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nancy Darst.
Jim was born on May 1, 1942, in Perry County, OH, to Maurice and Roseanne (Bond) Stoneburner. His family moved to Chillicothe, OH where he grew up. Jim graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1960. Jim then went on to college at Ohio University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA.
On April 3, 1967, he married Phyllis Heiss. Jim and Phyllis raised their two daughters in Circleville, OH. Jim spent his career at DuPont, first as an Engineer and later in Environmental Compliance. He and Phyllis moved to Hockessin, DE after their girls graduated high school where he continued to work for DuPont until he retired. In 2000, he moved to Florida and spent summers and holidays with his children and grandchildren in Tiffin, OH.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling with friends, spending time with family and was a good bridge player. Jim liked to read about history and was a Civil War buff and was quick with little known historical trivia. Jim loved to tell a joke or a story about some of his hijinks in his younger days.
There will be no services at this time. Donations may be made in Jim's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
