James "Jim" Richard Van Camp, age 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024. In 1961, he was born in Tiffin, OH to William Sr. and Donna Van Camp. He married Lynne (Gase) Van Camp in 1988 and welcomed their son, Johnathan, in 1995.

Jim grew up playing baseball and golf, and played drums in the marching band at Mohawk High School. He graduated from Terra State Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, and went on to graduate from The Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy in 1983 as part of the 112th academy class.

During his time as a state trooper, Jim received Trooper of the Month, Trooper of the Year in 1988, Special Recognition for combatting drunk driving, and Special Recognition for saving the life of a suicidal citizen. He proudly served his community for 34 1/2 years and retired on May 12, 2017.

Jim loved traveling with his family. He and his family took several cruises, traveled numerous times to Disney and baseball fields around the country, and enjoyed watching baseball together, especially the Indians during their spring training. He also loved spending time with his group of friends from high school.

His other passions included watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, going to air shows to watch the blue angels and thunder birds, taking his dogs on walks, riding his four-wheeler, working on outdoor projects, and flying single-engine planes.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne; son, Johnathan (Kaelyn) Van Camp; his siblings, Barbara (Robert) Epstein and William Jr. (Deborah) Van Camp; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Janet Gase; brother-in-law, Dennis (Caroline) Gase; sisters-in-law, Pam Oltman and Christine Gase; and numerous nieces and nephews.
