Janice A. Zavrel, 71, of Perrysburg, passed away on Friday morning, July 18, 2014 at The Lakes of Monclova, Maumee, OH.

She was born on March 26, 1943, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Warren and Clara L. "Judy" (Myers) Smith. On April 14, 1978, she married Eugene "Gene" Zavrel and he survives in Perrysburg.

Also surviving is her son, Michael W. (Susan) Degens of Fremont; stepsons, Chris (Rex Allen) Zavrel of Livonia, MI and Jon (Andrea) Zavrel of Ann Arbor, MI; stepdaughter, Carolyn Cabanban of Volo, IL; brother, Steve W. (Linda) Smith of Tiffin; sister, Sharon S. (Barry) Jerman of Tiffin; grandchildren, Haley Degens, Kacey and Kallie Cabanban and Ruby Zavrel; nieces and nephews, Jenny (Jay) Richardson, Kara (Dustin) Kraus and Danielle Smith; and 6 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson, Wade Matthew Degens.

Janice graduated in 1960 from Tiffin Columbian High School and retired from the Dana Corporation. She enjoyed listening to Vince Gill, was an Anthony Wayne, Detroit Red Wings and Ohio State University fan and she saved abused and hurt dogs. Janice loved shopping with and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Ray Richardson officiating. Entombment will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the funeral home.
