Jean M. Elchert, 71, of Fostoria, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, in the Emergency Room at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born October 28, 1938, in Tiffin to Raymond and Florence (Frary) Ranker. She married Wilbur Elchert on June 27, 1959.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Wilbur of Fostoria; two sons, William (Amy) Elchert of Clyde; Norman (Windy) Elchert of Fostoria; three daughters, Brenda (Jim) Pace; Annette (Ed) Risner, both of Fostoria; Andrea Kirkpatrick of Bakersfield, CA; two brothers, Mervin 'Doc' (Joanne) Ranker of Tiffin; Ray (Nancy) Ranker Jr., of Bloomville; a sister, Phyllis (Eugene) Kauffman of Tiffin, a sister-in-law, Phyllis Ranker; brother-in-law, James Comer, both of Tiffin; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jean was a 1957 graduate of Calvert High School and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a homemaker who loved to read, bake, play cards, attend flea markets and watch the Cooking Channel. She adored her family, children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death along with her parents is a brother, Robert Ranker; three sisters, Millie Comer, Mary LaFountaine, Marge Deitz and an infant grandchild, Olivia Risner.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Friday, July 2, 2010, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom, with Rev. Art Niewiadomski officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424.
