Jean E. Stein, 96, of Fremont and formerly of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday, October 01, 2026 at Elmwood of Fremont.

She was born on November 29, 1929, in Holland, Ohio, to William A. and Fern H. (Falls) Whitman. On September 10, 1949, she married Paul N. “Bud” Stein and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2009.

Survivors include her three loving daughters, Vicki (Larry) Hutlock of Grafton, Sally (Jeff) Baker of Tiffin and Denise (Kevin) Smith of Christiana, TN; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Paula Hinote; brothers, Dr. Robert Whitman and Lewis Whitman; sister, Wilma Remsberg; and her niece, Carol Ann Taylor.

Jean was a 1947 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She was a dental assistant and a homemaker. Jean enjoyed playing pinochle with friends, golfing, boating and baking to share with others. Most of all, Jean loved doing for others.

A private family service has taken place. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
