Jeff Leaver, 93, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2015 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born on March 20, 1922, in Nashville, TN, to John W. and Amanda (Ferris) Leaver. He married Dorothy Dunham, who preceded him in death on August 23, 2006, and they have six children; two sons, Robert Leaver of Tucson, AZ and Michael (Elaine) Leaver of Tiffin; four daughters, Nancy (James) Sherwood of Findlay, Patricia Misner and Winifred Harras, both of Tiffin, and Carole T. (James) Beaton of Upper Arlington. He married Leona (Stockenus) Messersmith on July 15, 1973 who preceded him in death on January 12, 2015. He has six stepchildren, Kenneth (Betty) Messersmith of Tiffin, Bob (Mary) Messersmith and Tom (Margaret) Messersmith, both of Norwalk, Bonnie (the late John) Smith, Linda (John) Droll of McCutchenville and Patty (Dick Southward) Messersmith of Carey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also has a half-sister, Marge (Louis) Meadows of Tennessee.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence; half-brother, Ed; and a sister, Lenamae Hamilton.

Jeff was a Jr. Home Kid and was in the United States Army Air Corp. He retired from National Machinery after 32 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of New Beginnings Assembly of God and he loved to travel. He and Leona, visited all the states except Hawaii and Alaska and they loved to go fishing in every state.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at New Beginnings Assembly of God with Rev. Rex King officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. The National Machinery Quarter Century Club will meet in body at 6:00 P.M.
