Joan R. Agerter, 83, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.

She was born on October 5, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Burton and Catherine (Factor) Dean. On May 3, 1947, she married Kenneth E. Agerter and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Dick) Hudson of Kissimmee, FL and Karen (Ed) Smith of Orlando, FL; one sister, Wilma (James) Fretz of Republic, OH; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and brother and sister in law, Edward and Pat Dean.

Joan graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1946 and was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ in Republic. She worked at Sears Roebuck in customer service for over twenty years. She also worked at General Electric and as an aide at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She volunteered for the Red Cross and was a member of the V.F.W. in Tiffin and a former member of the Tiffin Moose. Joan taught Sunday school and was a 4-H Advisor. She was an avid gardener.

Her funeral will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Pastor Mark Booster officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
