Obituary

Joanne R. Groves, 83, of Bloomville, passed away Saturday evening, March 9, 2013 at her home with friends and family by her side.

She was born on May 2 1929, in Woodland PA, to George and Katherine (Moore) Glace. On January 15 1947, in Falls Church, VA she married Robert Groves. They both then moved into Tiffin in 1954 when her husband opened up the first JC Penny's in town. Together they had 5 children, and were married 55 years; he preceded her in death in October of 2002.

Survivors include, 2 sons, Ricky L. (Kitty) Groves and Randy H. (Jacque) Groves both of Melmore; daughter Wendy S. (Gary) Johnson of Tiffin; grandchildren, Sarah Johnson Carpenter, Eric (Jessica) Johnson, Michael Johnson, Thomas and Adam Groves all of Tiffin, Carrie (Don) Aubrey of Arizona, and Amanda (Rob) Soward of Elyria; great grandchildren, Mallory and Aiden Carpenter of Tiffin, Kaitlyn and Mason Johnson of Findlay, and Bella Aubrey of Arizona.

Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; baby daughter, Linda Marie died at 13 months in November of 1948; son, Dennis Ray in December 1989 at the age of 39.

Joanne was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was first and foremost a housewife and mother. A beautiful seamstress and quilter she left behind many beautiful quilts and needlework. She loved to cook and bake. She worked as a seamstress at Tiffin Scenic Studios, the JC Penney's Store in town and the State Hospital. In her later years she devoted her time to the care of her son Dennis until he passed away, and then caring for her husband. Joanne and Robert made Bloomville, OH their home following the death of their son.

Her Memorial service will be 11:30 A.M. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 - 11:30 A.M. on Friday March 15, 2013 at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ, Community Hospice Care and the Seneca County Humane Society.
