Joanne L. Phelps, 84, of Tiffin, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.

On November 6, 1924 she was born in Tiffin to Flavel and Leona (Shultz) Heyman in Tiffin. On August 17, 1946 she married John P. Phelps in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin.

Survivors include her husband, John P. Phelps of Tiffin, two daughters Jane (Doug) Lauderman of Norwalk, Patti (Dan) Schmitz of Tiffin, one son, Mike (Fabie) Phelps of Fort Worth, TX; one brother Flavel J. Heyman of Upper Sandusky, one sister Evelyn Heyman of Tiffin; grandchildren Kim Greve and Sharon Bridges of Fort Worth, TX, Jeff Lauderman of North Fairfield, Kasey Lauderman of Canal Winchester, Jennifer Bates of Green River, WY; and Jason Schmitz of Tiffin; and 10 great-grandchildren and one expected.

Preceding her in death along with her parents, a daughter Mary Ann Phelps, a brother Donald Heyman, and a granddaughter, Wendy Lauderman.

Joanne graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1943. She was employed in the office at Mohawk Motor and also was office manager at Gem Manufacturing in Bascom. She also worked at Robert Sacksteder Associates in Tiffin as an accountant. Joanne was a member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bascom, Rosary Altar Society, 50 year member of Pleasant Grove Grange, Hopewell Farm Women's Club, Country Farm Women's Club, and Y-Wives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bascom, with Fr. Art Niewiadomski officiating. Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will be at 7:45pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, St. Francis Home, or to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
