John F. Doepker, 95, of Tiffin, died peacefully Thursday morning, May 5, 2011, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.


John was born July 3, 1915, in Ottawa, OH to John and Amalia ( Horstman) Doepker. He married Elizabeth P. Merritt on May 31, 1941, and she survives.


Other survivors include six daughters and two sons: Mary Jo (Virgil) Bohls of Napoleon, Dr. John Frederick (Trina) Doepker of Evansville, IN, Catherine Doepker of Atlanta, GA; Sister Jacquelyn Doepker, Dan (Tina) Doepker, Rose Marie (Dennis) Smith, Linda (Rob) Ritzler, Patricia Doepker Cress, all of Tiffin; 28 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Barbara A. Hess, three sisters and six brothers: Neal, Norman, Arnold, Eleanor, Del, Edward, and Joseph Doepker; Mary Kahle and Dorothy Blankemeyer.


John retired from Williamson Heating & Cooling Company after 32 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards at the K of C. He loved his wife and family, and enjoyed following the activities of his grandchildren.


His funeral Mass is Noon, Monday, May 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Szybka officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.


Visitation is Sunday, May 8, Noon-4 p.m. at Hoffman-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, with Scripture Service led by Rev. Frank Murd at 3:30 pm; further visitation 10:30-11:45 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church. The Rosary will be recited at 11:45 a.m.
