Obituary

John Raymond Rumschlag, 86, of New Riegel, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

He was born on October 9, 1929, in Seneca County, to John and Emma (Geckle) Rumschlag. On June 10, 1950, he married Anna M. Peiffer and she preceded him in death in 1985. He then married Sally Reinhart-Kinn on August 7, 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Sally; 10 children, Kathy (Darl) Theis of New Riegel, Don (Tina) Rumschlag of Findlay, Dennis (Connie) Rumschlag of New Vienna, Kenny (Janice) Rumschlag of Tiffin, Karen Rumschlag of Rocky River, Charlie (Barb) Rumschlag of Newport, MI, Marilyn Warnement of Tiffin, Linda Kinn of Alvada, Cindy Fletcher of Tiffin, and Sandy (Mike) Redmon of Canal Winchester; five stepchildren, Sharon Smarr of Fostoria, Bob Kinn of TN, Ron Kinn of Alvada, and Deb Cole of Adrian, and Pam Kingseed of McCutchenville; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Rumschlag of Florida; brother, Orland (DeeAnne) Rumschlag of Fostoria; 45 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 15 step-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Rumschlag; son-in-law, Jeff Kinn; five brothers, Floyd Rumschlag, Henry Rumschlag, Herb Rumschlag, Raymond Rumschlag and Charles Rumschlag; and three sisters, Eleanora Moffett, Margaret Clemets and Marcella Pottinger.

John graduated from New Riegel High School and retired from American Standard in 1987. He was a member of All Saints Parish and was dedicated to praying the Rosary. John was also a member of the New Riegel Moose Lodge #872, was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed dancing, playing euchre and poker and vacationing and camping with family at Lake Erie.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer and Rev. Jim Peiffer co-celebrating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
