John K. Schetter, 51, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

On September 30, 1960 in Tiffin, he was born to Ken and Patricia (Nepper) Schetter. He married Penny Smith on June 24, 2005.

Survivors include his wife Penny, children, John Matthew "Matt" Schetter and Amanda Schetter both of Tiffin; step-son, Adam (Beth) Lierenz and their children Kamryn and Anthony of Norwalk; brothers, Mike (Julie) Schetter, of Bascom; Chris Schetter of Tiffin; sisters, Linda Bentz and Vicki (Jim) Gaietto both of Tiffin and best friend, his Chocolate Lab Riley.

He was preceded in death by his parent, Ken Schetter and Patricia Schetter-Otwell.

John attended Columbian, graduated from Hopewell-Loudon in 1980 and earned his Journeyman on May 31, 1984 at Palm Beach County Vocational Technical Education in Florida. He worked for OCP in Holland, OH as a drywall finisher and was a Union member of Local 886. John loved riding his Harley Davidson and traveling with his wife. He organized the F.A.C.T. Poker for many years and volunteered his time. He was a certified Rescue SCUBA Diver and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 402. John will be missed by all and remembered for his practical jokes.

His funeral service will be on, Thursday March 15, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral & Crematory with Rev. Joseph Szybke officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 3-8 PM at the funeral home and on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
