He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin and the Old Fort Lions Club. He was a former member of the Old Fort Young Farmers and a proud supporter of area 4-H and FFA programs of which his children and grandchildren were members with animal and farming projects. He also loved sports and was a proud supporter of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and both the Cleveland Browns and Indians. However, his favorite teams were the teams of his children and grandchildren: Old Fort High School, Bowling Green State University, Ohio Northern University, Heidelberg University, Genoa High School, St. Edwards High School, and Hopewell-Loudon High School.
