Obituary

Joseph Louis "Joe" Aiello, 89, of Tiffin, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Thursday evening, July 5, 2012.

He was born on August 1, 1922, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Louis and Rosalia (Lanza) Aiello. He married Maggie Ruggiero on June 10, 1946.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie; daughters, Rosemarie (Fred) Reimer, Carolyn (Paul) Panuto, JoAnn (David) Porter and Linda (Ron) Frank, all of Tiffin, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a set of twin great grandchildren on the way.

Proceeding him in death were his parents; infant daughter, Mary Ann Aiello; brothers, Casmir, Dominic, Salvatore, and infant brother, Anthony; sisters, Anna Collins and Mary Andrews.

Joe graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School and served in the United States Navy from September 25, 1942 to January 4, 1946. He retired in 1975 from General Electric after 25 years. Joe belonged to many golf leagues and had a Hole in One at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course on September 6, 1998 and also had a Hole in One at Seneca Hills Golf Course in 1980. He started the Aiello Open fifty years ago, which is held every Labor Day. He enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, playing Euchre, crafts and repairing golf clubs. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus #608 and was a supporter of Calvert Catholic Schools. Family was very important to Joe and he loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

A Memorial Mass will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council. The Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 10-12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 75 S. Sandusky St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or Community Hospice Care.
