Joseph Daniel Autullo, 87, passed into eternal life Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Charleston, S.C.

He was born March 19, 1925, the son of Matteo and Carmella (Nappa) Autullo and was the loving husband of Regina Ruth Autullo. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Daniel and Anthony; a sister, Rosemary Margraf; and his first wife, Alice Mae Kerschner.

Joseph graduated from Columbian High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He served as a tank crewman in the D-Day invasion of Normandy and also the Battle of the Bulge.

He married Regina Ruth Nigh Sept. 4, 1981, in Tiffin. He retired from American Standard where he was employed as a technician.

Joseph lived in Ocala, Fla., for 22 years where he was an avid golfer and a volunteer at Pine Oaks Golf Course. He was an active member of the VFW and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles and the Moose.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Regina; brother, Mike (Ruth) Autullo of Tiffin; sister-in-law, Betty Autullo of Fremont; and daughter, Kathleen; two sons-in-law, Terry (Sharon) Nigh of Pemberville and Larry (Cynthia) Nigh of Charleston, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Vickie Miller of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, Susan Memmer, Danielle Autullo, Brad (Jen) Nigh, Erin (Mark) Johnson, Lisa (Clayton) Westerbeck, Christopher Nigh, Alexandra Nigh, Jason Miller and Cory Miller; eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

His Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin.
