Obituary

Joseph Lloyd Clary, 91, of rural Bascom, passed away Thursday morning, April 15, 2010, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria.

He was born June 7, 1918, in Bucyrus Township, Crawford County, to Joseph Sanders and Melissa Jane (Shafer) Clary.

Lloyd married Florence I. (Lyon) Clary, his high school sweetheart on June 2, 1945. They were married 60 years. She died September 23, 2005.

He is survived by his son, Dwight (Lisa) Clary, Kansas; daughters, Dorothy (Dennis) Roush, Tiffin; and Helen (Frank) Remes, Crown Point, IN; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and four generations of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Myron Clary, three bothers and four sisters.

Mr. Clary graduated from Caledonia High School in 1937. After graduation he went to work at Hamilton Farms in Indiana.

While in Indiana, he was drafted into the Army and served from 1941 to 1945. During his service, he was stationed in Camp Shelby, MS, Camp Blanning, FL, and Panama, where he guarded the locks.

After his discharge from the Army, he moved to Fostoria and worked at Bersted Mfg. Company. In 1950, he started farming in Seneca County. He later worked at Grabler in Tiffin and Copeland Mfg in Fostoria. He also worked at Mennel Milling Company in Fostoria, retiring January 1, 1984.

Lloyd was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Tiffin.

Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Monday, April 19, 2010, at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 2016 S. County Road 19, Tiffin, with Pastor Doug DeVos officiating, followed by a luncheon at the church. Burial be 2:00 PM, Monday, in Caledonia Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family 2-6 PM, Sunday, April 18, 2010, at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Tiffin.
