Joseph A. 'Joe' Kukoy Jr., 84, of Tiffin, died Thursday evening, April 2, 2009, at St. Francis Home.
February 19, 1925, he was born in Red Jacket, West Virginia to Joseph A. Sr. and Julia (Kozma) Kukoy. September 1, 1951, he married Lillian Marshall.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lillian, and a son, Dave Kukoy of Sandusky.
Preceding him in death along with his parents is a brother, Bill Kukoy and a sister Irene Meschede.
Joe graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana, where he was an All State basketball player and St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He proudly served in the Navy from 1943-1946 during WWII. He began teaching in the 1950's at Calvert High School for 20 years, was a student athletic recruiter at Tiffin University and was head of O.W.A. at Fremont Ross School System until he retired July 1, 1989. He enjoyed golfing and was a life member at Elks Lodge 94 and VFW 2858.
There is no visitation and burial is private.
