Joseph L. "Joe" Sendelbach, 92, of Tiffin, passed on Monday morning, December 21, 2009 at Hospice of North West Ohio in Perrysburg.
On November 16, 1917 in Bascom, he was born to Louis and Lena (Raitz) Sendelbach. He married Bernadette A. Ringwelski in Flint, MI.
Survivors include a son, David(Joann Hark) Sendelbach of Tiffin; six daughters, Joanne Cantrell, Findlay; Mary (Ron) Mathias of Maumee; Joyce (Mark) Swanger of Reynoldsburg; Ann (Doug) West of N.C.; Ruth Bintz and Nancy Sendelbach of Tiffin; six grandchildren, Jeff and Amy Mathias, Danielle McDonald, Ryan Bintz, Jessica Sendelbach and Kate Sendelbach, great grandchildren, Spencer McDonald, Devan and Alyssa Mathias, brothers, Herman (Martha) Sendelbach of Tiffin; Irvin (Mary) Sendelbach of Plymouth; Jerome (Joanne) Sendelbach of Tiffin; and a sister, Rose Larke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bernadette on August 23, 2002; great grandson, Timothy McDonald, and son in law, Wayne Bintz.
Joe was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served during WWII in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He started Tiffin Excavating Contractors in the late 1940's and retired in the late 1960's. One of Joe's favorite things to do was hunting and fishing in his earlier years and playing Euchre. He found pleasure in his garden, trying to grow the largest potatoes and tomatoes he could.
Joe lived a fulfilling life and will be missed by his family, living forever in their hearts.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans Council. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass.
Guests will be received on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be at 1:45 PM
