Dr. Joshua L. Comer, 39, of Monroe, LA passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

He was born on March 19, 1981, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Dennis and Rebecca (Raudebaugh) Comer.  On January 4, 2014, he married Cheyenne Mathews.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Rebecca Comer, of Tiffin; wife, Cheyenne Comer of Monroe, LA; brother, Nick (Jamie Graf) Comer of Put-In-Bay; sister, Michelle Niedermier of Miami Twp.; nephew, Justin Niedermier, Brixton his dog and Bogart and Goblin his cats.

Joshua graduated in 1999 from Tiffin Columbian High School, worked at the Advertiser-Tribune, Seneca Cleaners, Haeflinger Printers.  He began his education at Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor's degree in journalism in 2008, earned a Master's degree from DePaul University in 2010 and a Doctorate in Communications and Rhetoric from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.   Dr. Comer was currently the Assistant Professor of Communication and the Communication Program Director at the University of Louisiana, Monroe since 2015.  He was a published author and co-author of several publications and awarded many honors throughout his career.  Joshua was a free spirit at heart, growing up in Tiffin, living in Chicago and Troy, New York before moving to Louisiana.  He traveled to Tunisia, North Africa to help start a school newspaper, enjoyed traveling, attending and speaking at conferences around the country, gaming and a Lego fanatic.

There will be a masked, walk-thru visitation, from 2-4:00 P.M., on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

A Funeral Service will be at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Pat Danner officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.

Joshua had a passion for education, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Joshua L. Comer Scholarship Fund.
