Judy (Hurst) Oder, 90, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 24th at Bridge Hospice, Findlay. Judy was born January 5, 1936, in Marietta, Ohio, the daughter of Emmett and Winifred Hurst. She was a resident of Tiffin most of her life. She resided in Florida for 13 years and upon her retirement there, returned to Ohio and settled in Findlay.
Judy grew up in Jackson, OH, where she attended Jackson HS and was a majorette. Upon graduation, she attended college at Rio Grande College in Rio Grande, OH, and received her degree in Elementary Education. This is also where she met and married Robert (Bob) Oder. They later divorced.
Judy taught for Tiffin City Schools for 17 years. First at Krout elementary, then Clinton and finally at Bloomville. She continued her career in Florida at Bethune elementary in Haines City. Judy touched many, many young lives through her teaching. She loved teaching and truly loved working with young children. She was also a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, where she was active in many women’s Circles.
Judy was a devoted wife and mom, first and foremost. She always put her family first. In the little spare time she had, she enjoyed reading and knitting.
Survivors include her three daughters; Juli Weininger (Joe), Jani Oder-Yanni (Bo), Jodi Goodroe (William “Dub”). Grandchildren; Dr. Brandt Weininger (Makenzie), Katie Kuhn (Brett), Mollie Quidort (Tyler), Carly McGeehan (Sean), Jenna Adams (Blake). Great[1]Grandchildren; Hayes, Griffin and Tatum Weininger, Soucie and Gier Kuhn, Ella and Luke McGeehan and Cameron Adams. Niece Kendall Holysz (John), Nephew Steve Imes (Heidi).
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Cristel Imes and brother-in-law Roland Imes.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Humane Society in Tiffin, or Christian Clearing House, Findlay.
A private family service has taken place.
