Karan A. Tiell, 68, of Fostoria, passed away Friday morning, November 18, 2016 at St. Francis Home.

On September 18, 1948 in Tiffin, she was born to Paul A. and Bernita (Boes) Koepfer. She married James W. Tiell on August 14, 1965.

Survivors include her husband James of 51 years, three sons, Wesley (Melisa) Tiell of McClure; Matthew (Jaci) Tiell of Oregon, OH; Chad (Rhonda) Tiell of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen was a member of Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom and attended New Riegel High School. She worked at Budd Co. in Carey for over 13 years, volunteered at the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen for many years, cooking and baking dozens and dozens of cookies that she handed out to area organizations. Karen was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, season ticket holder at the Stranahan Theatre for many seasons, she enjoyed riding on the motorcycle with her husband, camping with her family, gardening, canning and knitting different things for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for having a big heart, always giving to others, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:00 am at Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom with Rev. Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 3-8 pm at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 419-447-2424 and on Wednesday from 9:00 until the time of Mass at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church or to the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen.
