Obituary

Kathleen A. "Katie" Wonderly-Jacoby 88, of Tiffin, died at 5:00 AM, Saturday morning, March 14, 2009 at her residence.

On September 18, 1920 in Tiffin, she was born to Paul and Catherine (Russell) Gillig. She married John B. "Bud" Wonderly on February 27, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1988. She married William Jacoby on December 27, 1997 and he also preceded her in death on January 28, 2006.

Katie and Bud had two sons, John "Chris (Laura) Wonderly of NM and their two daughters, Treasa and Katie; Thomas R. Wonderly and Denise Wonderly of Tiffin and they raised four children; William, Amber, Danniell, and John. Kathleen also had 5 great grandchildren. She loved and enjoyed William's nine children, Mary (David) Estrada, Stephen (Mary Jo) Jacoby, Anne (Bernie) Heinl, Timothy (Jennifer) Jacoby, Mark (Dee Dee) Jacoby, John Jacoby, Janet (Rick) Skidmore, Paul (Deborah) Jacoby, Dr. William (Kerrie) Jacoby, 30 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, brother, Paul Gillig, three sisters, Mary Lou Gillig, Alice Wagner and Regina 'Jeanne' Maiberber.

Katie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society, where she held offices in Deanery and Diocesan Councils and was a 1938 graduate of Calvert High School. She graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo as a Registered Nurse working for Dr. Edmond F. Ley prior to the war. She volunteered for many organizations around the community including St. Francis Home Auxiliary, Red Cross for 25 years, and Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and taking care of her family and home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery next to her first husband, Bud. A Luncheon will be served in the St. Mary Recreation Room after the burial.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St. 419-447-2424. A Christian Wake will be 1:45 on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, Community Hospice Care, St. Francis Home, or Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
