Keith A. Whitman, 61, of Old Fort, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, January 23, 2014 at Wyandot County Memorial Hospital.

On January 14, 1953 in Fremont, he was born to Wilbur and Alice (Polyak) Whitman. He married Pamela L. Heilman on May 10, 1974 and she survives.

Also surviving is a son, Ben (Jennie) Whitman of Old Fort; 2 daughters, Teresa Ernsberger of Gibsonburg; and Elaine (Kyle) Daugherty of Tiffin; 2 brothers, Kent (Gail) Whitman of Genoa; Tom (Gwen) Whitman of Fort Seneca; a sister, Susie (Fred) Hoffman of Oak Harbor ; four grandchildren, Konnor, Ayden, Emma and Brantly; a mother in law, Patricia (Donnie) Heilman of Old Fort and a father- in-law, Richard Heilman of Bettsville.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, David Whitman in 1992.

Keith was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont and a 1971 graduate of Old Fort High School. He worked for Guardian in Millbury for over 20 years and currently drove truck for J.B. Hunt. Keith enjoyed working on the family farm, showing cattle and was very active with his grandchildren's sporting events. Keith was a quiet simple man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and a hero to his family.

A private family Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont.
