Kenneth E. Corthell, 100.5, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 12, 2024, at The Courtyard at Tiffin.
On March 19, 1924, in Tiffin, he was born to George and Orpha (Haines) Corthell. He married Dorothy L. Rider on October 26, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Stephen (Kathy) Corthell and Jane (Jim) Supance, both of Tiffin; daughter in law, Margaret Corthell of Greenwood, IN; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Billerman, Marcia (Matt) Kleinhenz, Alicia (Jesse) Darr, Kimere Corthell, Daniel (Heather) Corthell, Nathan (Chiara) Corthell, and Katie Corthell; nine great grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Eden, Corinne, Jackson, Lane, Sawyer, Magnolia, and Sophia; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy of 71 years, son, Richard Corthell, brothers, Robert, Gilbert, Paul, John, and Don; sisters, Catherine Brooks, Janette Holmer, and Helen Cole.
Ken was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1942 graduate of Columbian High School. He honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943-1946, stationed in India. He began his career at National Machinery in 1948 and after 36 years, he retired in 1984. Ken and Dorothy wintered in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, FL for over 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling, watching the Cleveland Indians, Notre Dame and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Ken was a member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club, New Riegel American Legion Post 354, Knights of Columbus, and the K of C.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in parish cemetery with military honors by the New Riegel American Legion.
Friends may visit with the family and share stories on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 12-1:30 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp, formerly Camp Pittenger, 2905 Starr Ave., Oregon, OH 43616.
