Kenneth W. "Ken" Laugherty, 65, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday evening, August 7, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 10, 1946, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Audley William and Evelyn (Shelt) Laugherty. On August 22, 1962, he married Sharon R. Chaney.
Survivors included his wife, Sharon, of Tiffin; son, Jim (Kelly) Laugherty of Tiffin, OH; daughters, Lavenda (John Rice) Baker of Bradner, OH and Jennifer (Dion) Tey of Fostoria, OH; two brothers, Bruce (Sue) Laugherty and Larry (Carolyn) Laugherty, both of Tiffin, OH; sister, Ann Mathias of MI; two half brothers, Raymond Platt of Bascom, OH and Paul (Loretta) Platt of Tiffin, OH; half sister, Juanita Deffbaugh of FL; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wade J. Laugherty; two half brothers, William Laugherty and Robert Platt; and two half sisters, Dorothy Caudell and Jeannie Rodgers.
Ken graduated from Terra State Community College with a degree in Applied Science.
He was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church and retired in 2000 from Basic Refractories, after 35 years. He was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge #846. He was a handyman and enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing and walking his dog. He was also a Cleveland Indians Fan. Ken loved cookouts with his family.
His funeral service will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Tress Hodkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 10-12:00 noon at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
